phpMyAdmin: How to create a database backup

Step 1:

Please note that larger databases cannot be backed up via phpMyAdmin in some circumstances, because the script is limited by the server's restrictions!

In this case we recommend to back up the data using an external tool such as HeidiSQL.

Step 2:

First, log in to your database via phpMyAdmin.

This can be done directly in the KAS (Technical Administration) panel by clicking menu item Databases and the phpMyAdmin icon right next to the respective database.

You can also access the phpMyAdmin directly by calling up www.yourdomain.com/mysqladmin/ and entering the login credentials of the database. The login credentials can be found inside your KAS (Technical Administration) under the menu item Databases.

Once inside the phpMyAdmin, please click the database name on the left side unless it's already selected.

Step 3:

Click the Export tab.

Step 4:

Select the option Quick - display only the minimal options and click OK. You will be now provided with a backup SQL file for download.

Step 5:

If you want a compressed version of the SQL file, please select the option Custom - display all possible options instead. Then please choose the desired compression method from the drop-down field Compression and click OK.
