How to transfer a domain to our service: .com, net, org, info, biz, us, name Domain
Step 1:
Important: Only the domain (the domain name) itself is affected by the move (change of provider). All other data and settings will not be transferred. In order to avoid data loss and to prepare the provider transfer, you should backup and upload the data to our server beforehand. The same applies to email accounts which you should already set up in your KAS (Technical Administration) panel, since emails will either still be received by the previous provider or already by our server.
Some instructions, including how to transfer the contents of websites and email accounts, can be found here:
Provider change setup
Step 2:
The transfer of a .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .us or .name domain from another provider proceeds as follows:Setting up and order the domain (Step 3)
Initiating the transfer (Step 4 und 5)
After the domain transfer (Step 6)
If you are already a customer we recommend using this more detailed step-by-step tutorial.
Step 3:
After the domain has been released for provider transfer at the previous provider, you need to set up the domain in our system. In case of being a new customer, you need to order a contract on our website. In case of being an existing customer, please set up the domain in your KAS (Technical Administration) panel and order it inside your Members Area afterwards. For the provider transfer we then need the so-called authorisation code (EPP code) which you need to request from the previous provider. The EPP code is a kind of a password and consists of 6-16 digit combination of letters and numbers. You can enter that code directly when ordering the domain inside the Members Area. In case you order the domain together with a new contract on our website, you can enter the EPP code directly during the ordering process or afterwards in your Members Area.
Step 4:
As soon as we did receive the EPP code, we will initiate the transfer attempt. Please make sure once again whether the previous provider will approve the transfer and if there aren't any provider transfer locks. In case the EPP code is incorrect, you will get a notification by email. Please then check whether the EPP code had been entered correctly and whether the entered code matches the one you have got from the other provider and enter it again in your Members Area if necessary. You can find the related link directly on the Home page under "further information".
In case the EPP code has been entered correctly and the error message still appears, then you should contact the previous provider for further scrutiny.
Step 5:
The previous provider will receive a transfer request by electronic means. In case the previous provider denies the transfer request, you will get an email notification. You can then get in contact with your previous provider in order to find out why the transfer has been failed.Important: The duration of the domain transfer depends on the approval of the old provider. We will initiate the transfer request once we have received the EPP code.
After denial of a transfer request you can initiate the transfer again inside your Members Area.
General remarks: In case the previous provider does not reply or take action within 6 days (neither by denial nor by approval), the transfer request will be automatically approved by the respective domain registry.
Step 6:
As soon as the domain has been transferred successfully, you will also get an email notification from us. Then it will still take 6-48 hours until the domain is fully reachable via our nameservers. During this stage the queries will either already be routed to our service or still to previous provider.Search in support and FAQ
