Email address, autoresponder, forwarding: How to set up an autoresponder

Step 1:

Log in to your KAS (Technical Administration) and click the menu item Email on the left.

Step 2:

Click the subitem Email Account.

Step 3:

Click the Edit icon in the "Action" column.

Step 4:

In the Autoresponder settings section you can choose if the autoresponder should be always enabled or you can determine a timescale by choosing start... end... and selecting the start point and end point from the dropdown fields right next to it.

Autresponder type lets you determine whether the autoresponder message is sent as text or HTML email. If you choose HTML, you can enter HTML code in the autoresponder message field.

The Autoresponder name will be shown to the recipient as the sender's name.

In the Autoresponder message field you can enter the desired text. This text will be sent automatically to the to the sender who has sent your an email.

Hit the Save button in order to confirm the settings.

Step 5:

Security Advice!

Especially in times of high spam and advertising mail volume, an autoresponder can tempt a spammer to send you even more spam, because the autoresponder gives him a positive feedback from your email address.

Another reason not to enable the autoresponder is an "I'm on vacation" message, at least for private persons. In case the autoresponder message is received by criminals, they would know that there's nobody at home within the next 2 weeks for instance and that a burglary would be undisturbed.
