Account Transfer: Account Transfer
Step 1:
Preface:Please note that the procedure is entailing some effort and that this usually belongs to the remit of a webmaster or a publicity firm. Depending on the software used, there could be also other options for the data transfer.
This tutorial shows how to exclude a domain from your main account and move it to a separate KAS subaccount, including all data, mailboxes, subdomains, etc.
The process is splitted into two major parts:
1. Data transfer
2. Domain transfer
Each step can be undone at any time.
Step 2:
Log in to your KAS (Technical Administration) panel and choose the menu item Accounts on the left side.Step 3:
Click Create new account on the right side of the screen.Step 4:
First select the without a host tab. Enter a comment for the account in order to easier differentiate between multiple accounts later.Determine the KAS Password and allocate the resources the account should be allowed to use. That depends on what is transferred to the account later. If you want to migrate 2 domains for instance, you at least need to enter "2" in the Domains field. The same applies to the number of databases, email accounts, email forwardings, etc.
When you migrate a domain to another account, the domain name, all of its subdomains as well as its email addresses will be also moved.
You can edit the resources at any time.
After you have customized the settings, click on Save and the account is going to be created.
Step 5:
Now you have to transfer the respective FTP data.Once inside the new account, click on Tools -> Account Transfer.
Then select the subitem FTP data.
Step 6:
Now enter the login data of the source account in the respective fields. This data corresponds to the FTP login data of the source account. Then click on Check connection.
Step 7:
The Source path is equal to the folder the domain points to and where the to be tansferred data is located. That folder has to be entered in both the #Source path# and the Destination path field.Only the content of the source folder will be transferred, not the folder itself. Therefore, the folder needs to be entered as destination path as well.
Click Continue.
Step 8:
The Search & replace fields provide the option to replace text passages (e.g. login names) inside your scripts on the fly. Enter the login name of the old account in the left field and the login name of the new account in the right field.Depending on the account / folder size the transfer can take some time. You can enter your email address as Confirmation email address and you will receive an email after the data transfer has been completed.
In order to initiate the transfer click Continue.
During the transfer, all data will be copied. That means that your website(s) is/are still reachable after the process.
Step 9:
After the FTP data has been transferred, you can now move the database(s).Please log in to your KAS panel (Technical Administration) of your main account and click Tools -> Move Databases.
Step 10:
On the left side you can see your main account (source account) and the new account (target account) on the right side. Select the respective database and the target account from the dropdown fields and hit Move to move the database. In the case that you have accidentally moved the wrong database, you can move it back using the same dropdown menu.
Step 11:
Now you need to move the domain itself. Please note that the domain name, all of its subdomains as well as its mailboxes (with content), email forwardings and mailing lists will be also moved.
In your main account, please click on Tools -> Move Hosts.
Step 12:
On the left side, select the respective domain and the new account on the right side.In the case that the account the account is grayed out (with a notice of "no resources"), you have allocated too few resources. Then you must edit the account once again under the menu item Acccounts and customize the resource values.
In order to move the domain, click the Move button.
In the case that you have accidentally moved the wrong domain, you can move it back using the same dropdown menu.
Step 13:
Logged in to the new account, you should now see the migrated domain under the menu item Domain. The related email addresses, databases, etc. can be found under the respective menu items.Check your website afterwards. Depending on the deployed web software, you may need to correct the paths inside the configuration file(s) if necessary or/and the account's login name inside the databases(s).
