DNS Tools: How to add a CNAME-record
Step 1:
The subdomain for which you want to change the CNAME record must be set up on the destination server. If not, you will get an error message when you call up the subdomain. After the change it could take up to 3 or 4 hours until the new settings are active.IMPORTANT!
Please note that the CNAME record can only be changed for subdomains!
Log in to your KAS (Technical Administration) panel and click on Tools -> DNS Settings.
Click the Edit icon right next to the domain and then click on Add a new DNS record.
Step 2:
In the Name field, please enter the name of the subdomain you want to point to another host address (in the example image it's "calendar"). The Type is CNAME and the Priority remains 0. Then enter the target host address in the Data field and hit Save.Step 3:
The new entry will now show up in the table.Step 4:
Due to systemic reasons it is not possible to change the CNAME record of the entire domain. In that case please set the CNAME record for the subdomain "www".Step 5:
In order to make the domain (without www) also available for the new CNAME record, please click the menu item Domain in your KAS (Technical Administration) panel (Technical Administration) and click the Edit icon right next to the domain. Here please set up a 301 redirection to "www" like shown in the image.Search in support and FAQ
