Maintaining a database: How to set up a database
Step 1:
Log in to your KAS (Technical Administration) panel and click the menu item Database on the left.Step 2:
Click on Create new database in the upper right section of the screen.Step 3:
Enter a comment in the Comment field with at least three characters (e.g. Customer Data, Online Shop or Blog). It is later used to better differentiate between the databases and to quickly determine to which web project a database belongs. In the Password field you need to enter the desired password. Due to safety reasons the password should not be equal to the login name or to another password. You also shouldn't use first names, dates of birth, city names or animal names. Alternatively, you can generate a password automatically. That will generate a secure password without your manual input.
Access to the database is limited to "localhost" by default which means that only scripts that are located on the same server are allowed to access the database.
If required you can also allow access from everywhere or only from specific IP addresses in order to additionally grant database access to an external program such as HeidiSQL.
Click on Save.
